Abstract

In Reply.— I would like to thank Drs Scheller and Sotero for their comments regarding our retrospective study of electrographic seizures in neonates. As we have previously reviewed,1 there are several unresolved issues with respect to the reported incidence and diagnostic criteria of neonatal seizures. Diagnostic inaccuracies with respect to both the underestimation as well as overestimation of seizures still exist. Healthy patients with suspicious movements or encephalopathic infants with abnormal movements reflective of a brain disorder may occur independent of seizures.
