Queer Museum: A Possibility

Abstract

En el presente ENSAYO se exponen una serie de inquietudes alrededor del museo como institución que, si bien validada, lo ha sido desde estrategias patriarcales y heteronormativas como el saqueo, la invasión, la cosificación y la exclusión. Con base en esto, se piensa en la posibilidad de queerizar el museo y revertir sus efectos normativos, en busca de la inclusión y la dignificación de los cuerpos y subjetividades que han sido apartados de los discursos e incluso silenciado, y para que éstas tengan un territorio en el que reclamen su historia. _________ This essay presents a series of concerns about the museum as an institution, which has been validated by patriarchal and heteronormative strategies, such as looting, invasion, objectification, and exclusion. From this, the idea of queering the museum and reversing its normative effects emerged, aiming to achieve inclusivity and to bring dignity to the bodies and subjectivities that this institution has silenced and excluded from discourses. Therefore, the utopia of a queer museum is proposed as the future territory for these subjectivities to claim their history.
