Abstract
O artigo analisa o conturbado momento da democracia contemporânea, tendo como ponto de partida a reestruturação dos movimentos ligados a nova direita no Brasil (sob a ascensão e o governo Michel Temer) e nos EUA (sob a administração de Donald Trump). Seu objetivo é demonstrar como as mudanças na política e na sociedade desses países, marcadas por “Não Lugares” e tentativas de construções de “Guerras Culturais”, inseriram estratégias e mobilizações que toleram atuações que beiram os limites da democracia. Nesse sentido, autoritarismos, nostalgias, teorias da conspirações, pós-verdades e construções de inimigos idealizados ganharam uma dinâmica especial nas manifestações políticas desses movimentos, sendo rapidamente emuladas em sua expansão no Brasil e no entendimento de mundo de alguns de seus principais atores.

Authoritarianism, nostalgia, conspiracy theories, post-truths and constructions of idealized enemies gained a special dynamism in the political manifestations of these movements, being quickly emulated in their expansion in Brazil and in the understanding of the world of some of their main actors
