Abstract

A gravimetric study of a quaternary polymer system of the poly(methyl methacrylate)-ethylbenzene-toluene-acetone coatings has been carried out. The effects of the coating parameters, namely, initial thickness and coating composition have been studied. The evolution of the residual solvent, average concentrations of polymers and solvents, and coating thickness of the quaternary coating system have been compared with that of the binary and ternary coatings. The results indicate that the amount of any toxic or costly solvents can be reduced to a significant extent in quaternary coatings.
