Abstract

We have studied the magnetization of the Al–Pd–Mn system using high-quality single crystals. Below room temperature, field-cooled magnetization exceeds zero-field-cooled magnetization. In addition, thermoremanent magnetization has disappeared at the same temperature. The results suggest the formation of quasimagnetic clusters in the Al–Pd–Mn system, although the relaxation of the thermoremanent magnetization was not observed. We discuss this anomalous magnetic phase in the Al–Pd–Mn system and refer to the origin of the behaviors.
