This article focuses on epidemiologist Quarraisha Abdool Karim and her role in HIV/AIDS investigation in her country South Africa. It gives a background of her education related to HIV/AIDS and discusses her specific investigations into how the epidemic affects women and how to prevent its spread through greater engagement with communities and participants in HIV prevention trials.
