Abstract

This article discusses the great possibilities of a better health system for South Africans under the new government with Jacob Zuma as president. It explains the three new strategies necessary to form the basis for change--establish a dedicated and strengthened health workforce for the public sector ensure sustainable and equitable access to health services through affordable national health insurance and give leadership and managerial positions to those most competent and with the most accountability.
