Abstract
An oxide glass doped with CdSe has been made. The growth kinetics of CdSe microcrystals in the glass matrix has been studied by relating the changes in optical spectra of heat-treated glasses to quantum size effects. Particle size distrobutions have been measured using transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) and their effect on the absorption spectrum has been examined using a theoretical model.
