Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to inquire into the structure of contemporary physical theories with some axiomatic approaches to non-relativistic quantum mechanics (the quantum logic and convexity approaches being the examples). The investigation starts with a brief discussion of the problem: “What sort of entity is a physical theory”? Next, some views concerning the structure of a physical theory are presented and the ‘triangle’ structure is more fully described. An attempt to demonstrate that the structure of non-relativistic quantum mechanics (QM) is in quite good accord with the previously described ‘triangle’ structure of a physical theory, concludes the analysis.
