Abstract
Quantitative collections of pelagic tar in the western Sargasso Sea and the eastern North Atlantic have confirmed earlier reports. The exceptionally large amounts of tar observed by Heyerdahl in 1969 and 1970 appear to have been concentrated by Langmuir currents into windrows.
