Abstract

AbstractA high speed liquid chromatography (HSLC) method for the determination of oligosaccharides in soybean products at nanogram sensitivity is described. The extraction procedure is modified by introducing two extra steps of centrifugation and deproteinisation by a combination of freezing and using acetonitrile. This modified extraction procedure quantitatively extracts complete sugars from soy flour, while leaving behind undesirable organic contaminants. This HSLC method surpasses the existing methods with respect to total analysis time, precision, accuracy and sensitivity, and is specially applicable for those samples having a low oligosaccharide content and a high content of interfering material.
