Abstract

Objective AIM to set up a high sencitive, good reproducible method to detect trace endotoxin and endotoxin in human peripheral venous blood. Methods The method of quantitative determination of endotoxin was established by using Limulus Lysate teat with chromogenie substrate, and the endotoxin levee of peripheral venous blood was determined from 50 healthy subjects and 51 patients. Results 1. Improved Limulus Lysate test with ehromogenic substrate could betect trace endotoxin (10~2Eu/ml) and the CV was 2.29% (n=5). 2. Endotoxin levels of healthy Chinese in peripheral venous blood were below 0. 033Eu/ml. 3. Endotoxin levels were higher in patients sith some major operations, Which were correlated with the severity of stress (R2=0. 665). Conclusions This method is an effective measure ment for the Gram-negative bactexiemio and studies of endotoxemia.
