Abstract
Quantitative measurements of the strength of BHK21 anchorage-dependent cell adhesion on substrates of varying wettability (glasses, plastics, stainless steels and silicone rubber, with and without Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC)) were determined. DLC is an inert, impervious hydrocarbon coating with properties suitable for the biomedical field. The results showed that as the wettability of the substrates increased the strength of cell adhesion was also increased.
