Abstract

A quantitative analysis of Y211 particle distribution in a Y123/211(YBa2Cu3O7/Y2BaCuO5) bulk prepared by a top seeding melt-growth process was focused mainly on themeasurement of Y211 particle concentration and Y211 particle size. The concentration andY211 particle distribution were measured by image processing on the set of micrographsprovided by an optical and a scanning electron microscope (SEM) from identical places ofthe sample. We confirmed that in the region with submicron Y211 particle size themeasurement on the optical micrographs was comparable with the measurement on theSEM micrographs. It was shown that the line profile analysis on the pre-treated opticalmicrographs could be calibrated and used for Y211 concentration measurement.
