Abstract

The application of a Nafion ®-backed porous gold electrode to the direct voltammetric analysis of mixtures of electroactive gases was investigated. It was found difficult to design a sensor which shows low charging currents needed for fast voltage sweeps while maintaining high sensitivity. Nevertheless, it was possible to successfully analyze two mixtures consisting of either three organic electroactive components or of four inorganic species in the ppm-range. The evaluation of the results requires the use of multivariate calibration; partial least squares regression was employed.
