Abstract
This study presents an improved direct current potential drop (DCPD) method to quantify the full field ductile damage evolution for sheet metals subjected to large plastic deformation. Tensile tests were carried out to obtain full field deformation and overall electrical resistance through digital image correlation (DIC) and DCPD techniques, respectively. A new damage identification procedure based on the variation of electrical resistance is presented. Different aspects of the proposed procedure are particularly addressed. The results obtained by both the proposed approach and the micro-hardness method are compared.
