Abstract

AbstractThis chapter describes the broad family of techniques called qualitative research methods, in the context of leisure, recreation and tourism research. It discusses: the advantages and disadvantages of qualitative research; the qualitative research process; and four qualitative methods (in-depth interviews, participant observation/ethnography, focus groups, and case studies).
