Abstract

One of the developing types in the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN) where it will match the Quality of Service(QoS) demand of the new and arriving applications. Multipath routing is a better solution with the cross layer approach in characterizing the WMSN. The proposed QoS aware Multi-Constrained Node Disjoint Multipath Routing (QMCNDMR) protocol is based on Triangle link quality metric Multipath Routing (TIGMR) protocol wherein the multiple node-disjoint route through the forwarding node is searched based on the calculation of the triangle quality metric, distance, remaining and energy to avoid the path interference between the paths. We modify the TIGMR route maintenance by adding the local discovery for link break situation. In addition, it escapes from the hidden node drawback on the source node without the Request-To- Send or Clear-To-Send (RTS/CTS) handshake mechanism. Simulation results show the optimal performance in addition to improved network lifespan as compared with progressive TIGMR protocol.
