Abstract

<b>Abstract.</b> <b>This paper provides a comparison of material specifications and manufacturer installation recommendations of PVC, painted steel, and aluminum roofing panels. Some of the basic information compared is material density, weight, tensile strength, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, thermal properties, expected life, and fastening methods. The results show that PVC panels can be a viable roofing alternative especially where corrosion and radiant heat transfer are primary concerns. Because the laminated PVC panels are thicker than single ply PVC panels the support spacing can be greater.</b>
