Abstract
AbstractTo ensure that concurrent engineering design teams are truly concurrent and are designing producible products, Motorola's Space and Systems Technology Group (SSTG) has created a formal design methodology called Five Phases of Design. The methodology requires input from all the members of the design team at each of the five phases of the design to ensure that producibility issues are addressed during each phase. To augment this process, a high‐performance concurrent product design team model was developed and successfully tried on a concurrent design team at SSTG. This article describes the five phases of the design and the team model.
