Abstract
When standard and extended treatmentfails, pump-driven venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxy-genation is available as a rescue therapy in a few specializedcenters. A case of blunt chest trauma in a severely traumatizedpatient with ARDS who was treated with a recently developedpumpless arteriovenous extracorporeal lung assist system (AV-ECLA) with a minimal-resistance oxygenator is presented.
