Abstract

Results from both pulsed and sinusoidal quenching for 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonances are reported here for polycrystalline samples of sodium ohlorate and p-dichlorobenzene at room temperature and at liquid air temperature. Multiple and single maxima were obtained on the curves of nuclear signal plotted against sinusoidal quench frequency and are explained by analysis of the quenching signal spectral distribution, together with the behaviour of the radiofrequency magnetic field amplitude within the sample coil. From the results obtained a value for the apparent spin-spin relaxation time for p-diohlorobenzene is calculated.
