Abstract
A total of 8 Salmonella Typhimurium isolates (RK 1–8) were obtained and confirmed from 200 faecal and tissue samples. Out of 8 isolates, 3 (37.50%) were from faecal samples while 5 (62.50%) were from tissue samples. Pulse Field Gel Electrophoresis (PFGE) analysis of the eight isolates of S. Typhimurium revealed that isolates RK1 to RK4 and 8 gave similar band patterns. The remaining three, isolates RK5-7 showed unique banding pattern that differed from other isolates. Results of dendogram showed a total of 6 distinct PFGE patterns and two large clusters were generated among the eight S. enterica serovar Typhimurium isolates. Isolates RK1 and RK2 were having 100% similarity. Similar pattern was depicted by isolates RK3 and RK4 as they too were 100% similar. The isolate RK8 showed 96% similarity with cluster RK1/RK2.
