Abstract
A Czochralski crystal puller has been built to grow crystals of gallium phosphide by the liquid encapsulation technique. With suitable starting material large crystals can be easily grown. Such crystals are only lightly contaminated by the crucible and boric oxide encapsulant and have electrical properties similar to those of epitaxial vapour grown material.
