Abstract

The rapid increase in publicly available chemical data in recent years has led to the establishment of many chemical databases that collect, curate, and disseminate these data. This paper provides a brief overview of important public chemical databases useful for cheminformatics and bioinformatics research community, including PubChem, ChemSpider, ChEMBL, BindingDB, PDBbind, Binding MOAD, DrugBank, Guide to PHARMACOLOGY, Pharmacogenomics Knowledge Base (PharmGKB), Side Effect Resource (SIDER), Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD), Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB), Human Metabolome Database (HMDB), Chemical Entities of Biological Interest (ChEBI), and UniChem.
