Abstract
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) can be treated best with psychotherapy, not medications, a recent clinical review has found. Led by senior author Otto F. Kernberg, M.D., the researchers conducted a literature review summarizing evidence regarding the epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of BPD. While the review focuses on adults, the researchers also found that while the age of onset varies, symptoms are usually seen by early adulthood, with symptoms veering toward more depression as the patient ages.
