Psychotherapeutic activity in the Tromso area

Abstract

I Psychotherapy has been a part of the in-service training of psychiatric residents in the Tromso area for 20 years. Systematic training in systemic family therapy has been offered since the beginning of the 1970s. During the last eight years the Institute of Psychotherapy has arranged four introductory courses and one advanced course in individual psychotherapy in Tromso. During autumn 1993 the Center for Psychotherapy and Psychosocial Rehabilitation of Psychoses (SEPREP) initiated a course in psychotherapy with severely disturbed patients. Most of the senior psychiatrists have completed two or four years training in dynamic psychotherapy at the Norwegian Institute of Psychotherapy. During the last eight years, in particular, there has been an increase in the manifold of professional thinking and practice which much has improved the clinical treatment facilities. For the time being we have 10 out of 10 possible psychiatric residents at Asgard psychiatric hospital.Psychotherapy, Supervision, Training.
