Abstract

This paper takes off from Dr. John Volkman's unpublished review of the psychological climate in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University in the 1920s and 1930s. The slow changeover from an all-male faculty to a somewhat better than token number of females is described in the second part of this paper along with some references to recent developments in the area of the psychology of women.
