Shweder is Assistant Professor of Human Development in the Committee on Human Development at the University of Chicago. He received his B.A. in anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1966 and his Ph.D. in the Department of Social Relations from Harvard University in 1972. He has been a research fellow in the Department of Psychology and Social Relations at Harvard University, a fellow of the Child Development Research Unit at the University of Nairobi, and a lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Nairobi.
