Abstract
The consistent analysis of the psychological aspects of competitive activity in orienteering, decision-making processes and psychotypical characteristics of athletes engaged in winter sports allowed the authors of the paper to substantiate the psychological features of decision-making in orienteering. The main features are defined: the development of orientation thinking, advantages of hyperthymic and pedantic psychotypes, as well as choice strategies, prevailing mental states and their management.
