Abstract

Three collections of a cup-fungus found in the Mediterranean basin in three different localities (southern Spain, southern Italy and Crete) are presented as a new genus and a new species of Pezizales. Its morphology is similar to that of Tricharina species, but some of its microscopic characters, i.e. ascospores structure, disagree with the usual concept of this genus. Morphological study and phylogenetic analysis have been conducted to determine the correct position within the Pyronemataceae
