Abstract

The semiempirical pseudopotential method of Baylis (1969) has been used with some modifications in calculations of the molecular terms of diatomic systems composed of a group II atom and a ground-state rare-gas atom. The calculations have been carried out for Cd-heavy-rare-gas systems. The adiabatic potentials and oscillator strengths associated with several lowest terms of the cadmium atom are demonstrated and discussed.
