Abstract

The estimation method of creep curve at a constant true stress was proposed in this study by using creep data tested at a constant engineering stress. The tensile and compressive creep tests of extruded magnesium alloy AZ91D were carried out in vacuum at 150°C under a constant engineering stress ranged from 60 to 150 MPa. Specimen cross section area and length were measured periodically until the end of creep test in order to determine true stress and true strain. Consequently, creep curve at a constant stress was created in the term of true stress and true strain. The comparison between creep curve at a constant engineering stress and at a constant true stress was also discussed in this research.
