Abstract
The protease tPA (tissue type plasminogen activator) is activated by fibrin and degrades blood cloths and extracellular matrix (ECM). In addition to fibrin, amyloid fibrils of the Alzheimer Aβ protein and human Islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP, fibril-forming protein of amyloid in pancreatic islets of DM2 patients) can activate tPA in vitro.
