Abstract
Foot ulcers are often caused by elevated plantar pressures and presence of foot deformity in diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy. Preventive custom-made therapeutic footwear is routinely prescribed to offload the foot, but re-ulceration rates remain high. This may be because footwear offloading efficacy at at-risk foot sites remains unclear and may be poor. This study aimed to evaluate the offloading efficacy of custom-made footwear in neuropathic diabetic patients with foot deformity and previous foot ulceration using in-shoe plantar pressure analysis.
