Abstract

This text describes the activities of the I Symposium on the Integration of Teaching and Service of the University of Sao Paulo (USP), held in November of 2012, with the purpose to problematize the theme Public Health in the Courses for Training in Health. The Symposium was part of the experience we have developed between undergraduate courses in health within the National Program of Reorientation of Health Professionals Training (Pro-Saude) articulated with the Program of Education for Work in Health (PET-Saude) in partnership with the Sao Paulo City Secretary of Health. Lectures were given about the following subjects: “Integrative experiences of teaching-services and multidisciplinary training”, The Public Health in the curriculum of undergraduate courses in the field health at USP: diagnosis and articulation with “Pro-“ and “PET-Saude” and Innovation and Technologies in Health: “Pro-Saude” and “PET-Saude” as a strategy and innovative practice in health training. We have formed Working Groups divided by categories: teachers, students and representatives of professional health services who after a debate presented their experiences and expectations. Our challenge will be to point out these developments in the dimension of research and knowledge production in the field of Public Health in different undergraduate courses with the purpose of an interprofessional education and in defence of the National Public Health System (SUS).
