Abstract

Two types of YBa2Cu3O7- delta -Ag-Al-Al2O3-Pb proximity structures have been fabricated. The first junction type contains metallic shorts in the Al2O3 insulating layer and exhibits a Josephson current. Sharp Shapiro steps appear in a microwave field. The other junction type has a closed Al2O3 barrier and is a tunnel junction with high subgap resistance. At low temperatures an energy gap of 9-10 meV is found to be induced in the Al-layer by the YBa2Cu3O7- delta .
