Abstract
This report concerns 2 mares treated at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Teaching Hospital for hindlimb lacerations using cast application. Following cast removal both mares developed acute lameness and were diagnosed as having bilateral proximal sesamoid bone fractures of the casted limb.
