Abstract
The patient was a 33-year-old man who presented to the emergency department with complaints of left knee pain. The patient's knee pain was located medially and described as a constant deep ache that worsened with weight bearing. Radiographs did not demonstrate any evidence of fracture, subluxation, or dislocation, and subsequently, the patient was referred by his primary care physician to a physical therapist. Examination of his left hip revealed markedly decreased range of motion, with reproduction of the patient's left knee pain. Radiographs of the left hip were ordered, which revealed a comminuted, impacted fracture of the proximal femur. J Orthop Sports Phys Ther 2011;41(10):795. doi:10.2519/jospt.2011.0420
