Abstract

Three active sunspot‐groups were all within 30° of the Sun's central meridian when the storm of April 13 began. During the very great storm of April 16 these groups were still visible, and in addition two more active groupsd had appeared at the Sun' east limb. A bright aurora was visible at Mount Wilson near midnight of April 16 (8h, GMT). The motion of the H‐element was so voilent that the maximium was off the sheet and the minimium was indistinguishable, making it impossible to measure its range.
