Abstract

The mechanism of roughness formation during processing with an edge tool is investigated. It was found that when machining with a tool having a small end cutting-edge angle, scratches are formed as a result of jamming of small chips between the workpiece and the blade in the area of its minor flank. Keywords: finishing, cutting tool, cutting edge angle, built-up, chips, jamming, scratch, roughness, minor flank, sharpening to a point, high-speed cutting. zgs1931@mail.ru
