Abstract

The properties of mixed conduction (H + + O 2−) in BaCe 0.9Nd 0.1O 3 − α were investigated by substituting Ca for Ba partially. Under air and fuel cell conditions the oxide ion conductivity decreased with increasing content of Ca although the decrease in proton conductivity was not so marked. Substitution with Ca would distort the crystal structure to restrain the motion of oxide ions.
