Abstract
Nausea is a feeling of discomfort in the stomach, whereas vomiting is defined as the forced expulsion of gastric content. Nausea and vomiting can be classified as acute, when symptoms last seven days or less, or chronic, when they last four weeks or more. They may be secondary to gastrointestinal and non-gastrointestinal disorders. This protocol aims to review the evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic nausea and vomiting, emphasizing gastrointestinal causes.
