Abstract

Patients with acute kidney failure (AKF) should be systematically assessed by preparing their clinical history, with a complete physical examination and the appropriate complementary tests. Diagnosis should be at syndromic, functional, physiopathological and aetiological levels. It is important to determine the aetiology of the process so that early treatment can be directed against the specific cause producing the AKF.
