Abstract

We define Non visible hematuria the presence of three or more red blood cells in high powered field (HPF) in a properly collected urine specimen in the absence of an obvious benign cause. Urine dipstick has a high sensitivity and specificity to detect red blood cells in urine. From urologic point of view benign prostatic hyperplasia, urinary infection and urinary lithiasis are the most frequent causes for hematuria.
