Abstract
Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) has become a highly reliable separation technique for protein characterization. Broad application of electrophoresis techniques has required the development of detection methods that can be used to visualize the proteins separated on polyacrylamide gels. A few of these methods are Coomassie brilliant blue (CBB) staining ( and see Chapter 11), silver staining ( and see Chapter 35), fluorescent staining (, , ), specific enzyme visualization (), and radioactive detection ( and see Chapter 25 and 36).
