Abstract

Protective Role of Ficus carica Extract Against Hepato-Testicular Side Effects and Genotoxicity Induced by Cisplatin

Highlights

  • Plant products and their secondary metabolites are generally safer and cheaper compared to synthetic drugs and could be used for the treatment of many diseases

  • The total phenolic and total flavanoid contents in methanol extract were expressed as chemical equivalents of chlorogenic acid and rutin, respectively

  • The results demonstrated that Ficus carica at different doses alleviated the over expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene compared to cisplatin group especially with the doses 400 and 600 mg/kg (P0.001)
