Abstract

Prostate cancer is the most common (non‐cutaneous) cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in US men. Both Black men and men 70–80 years old are at high risk for high‐grade prostate cancer. Despite that some groups recommend against PSA‐ and DRE‐based prostate cancer screening in men 70 years of age and older without regard to high‐risk factors. The authors present results of a study of prostate biopsy characteristics of men 70–80 years of age to determine whether they harbor a concerning incidence of high‐grade prostate cancer and should be offered screening.
