Abstract

Abstract The teacher training process includes the technology, the teaching of school subjects and pedagogical-political commitment, as well as knowledge of different aspects of life. School education for future generations requires the “teacher in training” to rethink their own school education: reflecting on theirs memories of childhood and adolescence and deepening their awareness of their social role when they were students, as well as thinking about their future practice as teachers, with the goal to build their own professional identity. The research project to be presented is based on written reconstruction of the life history of teachers in training in Brazil, as well as group exercises to rethink their school life, writing and reading of individual and collective texts, resulting in reconstruction of their older memories in relation to their school education. The themes that suggest new fields for learning are: rebuilding their old memories and their relationship with early childhood education; with basic education and secondary education; recognition of their role as subjects participating in their own process of teaching/learning; rethinking negative and positive experiences in rebuilding their memory as well as the reconstruction of the figure of teachers with whom they lived.
