Abstract

The creation of a strategic helium storage facility is one of the stages in the development of the Russian gas industry. More than 20 oil and gas condensate fields have been discovered on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which contain helium in industrial concentrations. This work discusses the possibility of creating a helium storage facility in Yakutia. We considered the experience of long-term storage of helium (in salt caverns and in depleted oil and gas condensate fields), as well as the prospects for creating cryogenic helium storage facilities, artificial storage facilities based on quarries and the possibility of returning helium concentrate to blocks or sections of the field under development. It was obtained that based on the analysis of the best technologies for creating a strategic reserve of helium in Eastern Siberia, it is possible to use various types of storage that meet all the requirements.
